The reason for all the different pay structures is to make it hard to compare apples to apples so drivers are less likely to jump ship for better pay

Tbh ever since I started driving I have always been on component pay. I personally like it cause if I can knock out a route that pays 525 for the day in 8hrs I don’t gotta be out there longer. The only cons I’ve ever seen with this pay structure was in beverage (beer) were now you rely on the season/summer time to actually make more money.

I think it’s all the wash in the end. I think some companies use component paid to eliminate Clock burners who intentionally go slower cause they’re hourly and it kind of weeds out the week but then again I’m sure some days it works out better for them some days, it works out better for the employee I think pay wise once you get to that level it’s all a wash because one bad component day you may lose to an hourly on that day, but if you’re consistently beating, what an hourly earning on their schedule and one day you live out, do you really lose?

Percentage is the best way to go. Hourly makes people lazy and not be the most productive. Eating up hours all over the place

at my company we get component. route pay which is about 280 per day and .30 per case with a minimum of 500.. comes out to a minimum of about 430 per day guaranteed. average route is around 11-12 hours.. the other day i did my route in under 8hr and it broke down to about 65 per hour but that rarly ever happens.. in the system our rate of pay is defaulted at around 43 per hour but if they paid us hourly the rate would be less but at same time it sucks I get paid the same when I work 15 hrs.

I like stops and miles. And touch frieght. I can control my time to an extent. I want to hurry and go home without reducing my pay

they do by the load and by the mile is just to screw you. I personally think its a safety hazard. sometimes working faster is just straight up unsafe. my pay structure is hourly overtime after 40 usually around 60 hrs a week. with decent benefits. wouldn't have it any other way.

I’ve gotten component pay and thought it was great but now that I’ve gotten a job driving for hourly rate there’s no comparison I get paid for every hour I’m out there if there’s traffic or a breakdown. I don’t have to worry about running to get my next load the Miles the drop & hooks the sitting at the dock. I do my job I go home and I’m happy. Union driver get OT after 8 can’t get any better. Thanks for your content you good information I appreciate what you are doing.

Longer hauls sometimes pay better by load or mile then hourly because companies shut down drivers at certain hours

Anything other than hourly almost always benefits the company. I see it as a way for the company to make sure you’re actually working by making you hustle (which is dangerous) but we’ve all seen those guys too or are those guys who milk the clock when paid hourly 😂

I agree. Higher hourly is best with a blend of better benefits.
