Your future dive buddy will thank you. 🌊🤿 I love seeing more and more people becoming ocean lovers by experiencing it for themselves through diving whether it’s for the incredible wildlife encounters, shelling, spearfishing, or simply admiring a beautiful reef. But with more people discovering the underwater world, I’ve also noticed many are teaching themselves to freedive without ever taking a class. Freediving is incredibly rewarding, but it’s also a discipline where the basics can save your life. A good course teaches you things that aren’t always obvious, like: 🤿 Always removing your snorkel from your mouth before every dive. 🛟 How to recognize and respond to an LMC (Loss of Motor Control) or shallow water blackout. ⚠️ Why you should never dive alone—even if it’s “just one last dive.” Unfortunately, those have become famous last words in far too many accidents. 🫁 Proper breathing and recovery breathing. ⚖️ Weighting, equalization, efficient finning, and so much more. This weekend, I got to spend time with new and experienced divers during Neritic’s SSI Freediving Course and line diving practice. It was awesome seeing people build confidence, improve their technique, and meet new dive buddies along the way. The goal isn’t just to dive deeper or hold your breath longer. It’s to enjoy the ocean safely so you can keep coming back for a lifetime of adventures. If you’ve been thinking about getting into freediving, take the class first.
