It makes sense why it’s a history subreddit with so many rules. History is by far the most purposefully misleading and misguided topic there is. Especially on the internet in place like Reddit. So it’s good they take it seriously

I frequently answer questions on r/AskHistorians and not only do you need to post in depth, well researched responses— you also need to demonstrate functioning knowledge of the subject. Basically you can’t quote a bunch of stuff. You’ve gotta show you can answer the question in your own words while citing sources 😂😔

It's actually reddit moderation at It's best. Back when it was easy to see what had been deleted, you could see how much garbage they had to remove...and that garbage would usually be the most upvoted stuff because it would pander to reddit's interests

As someone who recently took a weeds class the dandelion question feels almost like something that can’t be answered in a super academic way other than citing some of the more popular definitions for weeds, because a weed, in most cases, is effectively defined as “a plant which you don’t like”. Like for example wheat, one of the most important crops in the world, is a weed when it is growing where you want to grow canola, or soybeans, or anything other than wheat.
