Very astute business man. He bought up as much archive material he could. The band name Dave Clarke 5 meant all payments were made to him and he paid the rest of the band a salary. I went to school with the saxophonist. Even though they had sold millions of records and performed in big arenas, he was paid very little and drove a big standard Ford.
