I was in the ethanol trade. I was a maintenance technician for plant. My job was to keep the centrifuges going. The pay wasn’t bad. We would get extremely nice bonuses for profit-sharing. We made way more money off of the corn oil than we did the ethanol. We all knew our jobs were dependent on the markets. We all knew it was subsidy money it was making it happen. It’s getting bigger and bigger.

love this idea, love me a.native prairie restoration project...but they blame a lot of greenhouse gasses on methane produced by cattle. is that real? what do we do bout that?

The byproduct from the corn ethanol is needed to feed those cows in the winter time when the grass isn’t growing.

One of the byproducts of ethanol, DDGs, are used ro feed livestock as well ans in turn feed humans. Turning row crop back into grazeland is a feel good idea. It sounds nice, but there are already calls for fewer cattle as they supposedly cause climate change.

Ethanol is so stupid. A food source to make a fuel source when there's much better out there and take so much energy to produce and is not good for any engine on the road.

Nice job taking into account many things others dont. One issue in our area farmed ground has less run off than native pasture ground. In Great Plains anyway. Dairy production is all confined feeing operations . They never see pasture ground.

adding to the conversation. Ethanol can be made from lactose (milk sugar) also. Doesn't require the enzymes that corn does and is a liquid sugar already.

I had a grass based seasonal dairy for many years,it doesn't work. Dairy cows in freestalls, eating a high corn silage ration through a total mixed ration is the best way to do it!!

about 30 percent of the corn crop goes to ethanol, it's byproduct is miller's grain, still goes to livestock for feed, only has the starch removed. miller's grain can be dry or wet, it's excellent feed
