@gracetruthdaily: If you miss a gathering, does that mean God is no longer pleased with you? Many Christians have had this concern. Because of work, because of sickness, because of family responsibilities, there may be a time when they miss a gathering, and suddenly they begin to worry: “Did I fail to keep the Sabbath?” “Will God be displeased with me because of this?” But, is what the Lord Jesus truly cares about only whether you are physically present in church? Listen to what Jesus Himself said. One time, Jesus and His disciples were passing through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry, so they picked some heads of grain and ate them. The Pharisees immediately accused them of doing wrong, because according to their understanding, nothing could be done on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered: “For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.” “The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.” Jesus was not abolishing the Sabbath. He was teaching people: Do not turn the blessing God gave to humanity into a rule that burdens people. True rest is not about completing a religious ritual. It is about returning to God. When you are willing to put down your busyness, silence the voices of the world, turn your heart toward God, worship Him, and draw near to Him, that is the true meaning of the Sabbath. Because the One who truly gives people rest is not a specific day. It is the Lord Jesus Himself. If a person keeps the outward form, but their heart is far from God, then even if they attend every Sabbath gathering, they have not entered true rest. But if a person truly comes before the Lord, seeks Him, worships Him, and obeys Him, they are experiencing the rest God gives. Because Jesus Christ is the Lord of the Sabbath.
