@anya.zakharchenko8: Made collages with three Ukrainian characters that I have encountered in western media, that are: The Vampire Armand (Interview With The Vampire (although canon only in the books)), Boris Pavlikovsky (The Goldfinch), and Mickey (Mikhailo) Milkovich (Shameless US). Despite the fact that their backgrounds were not always treated perfectly & were not completely devoid of stereotypes, I will still always love them dearly. The background elements that I used are things like photos of actual places in Ukraine, Ukrainian food/drinks/sweets, Ukrainian songs, cultural clothing, famous slogans, plants considered official symbols, etc, that I think fit their vibe. For Armand’s one, I also want to specifically clarify that I added an image of the physical copy of the Ukrainian play “Chasing two hares” there, both as a nod to his theatre background, and the fact that the movie adaptation of it was filmed on Podil (where his book version was born). The image right near it is also of the Theatre of Coryphaei, which was famous in Ukraine for promoting Ukrainian language at a time when it was banned by the Russian Empire.
