Hey girl, I get why staring feels uncomfortable, but it’s really not racism,it’s pure curiosity! Albania has very little racial diversity, so when someone with a stylish foreign vibe walks by, people naturally look. A stare here comes from wonder, not prejudice! 🇦🇱✨

Si vous prévoyez d'aller en Albanie et que vous êtes une personne noire, je pense qu'il est important d’avoir en tête que vous pouvez subir un racisme de ouf . J'étais à Durrës et, pour rentrer en Italie (Bari), j'ai pris le ferry. À la douane, j'ai vécu ce qui a été, de loin, la pire expérience de mon voyage. J'ai eu droit à un interrogatoire particulièrement poussé : on m'a demandé de citer les informations figurant sur mon passeport, d'enlever mes lunettes, de répéter plusieurs fois depuis quand j'étais en Albanie, puis mon passeport a été transmis à un autre agent pour être vérifié une nouvelle fois. Une expérience angoissante et humiliante, parce qu’on sait que ces agissements sont motivés par un racisme bien réel. Pendant ce temps, des voyageurs français et italiens blancs, avant et après moi, sont passés sans subir ce type de contrôle. Je vois beaucoup de vidéos sur TikTok qui présentent l'Albanie comme une destination idéale. Mon intention n'est pas de décourager les gens d'y aller, mais simplement de partager mon expérience afin que les personnes noires qui envisagent ce voyage aient aussi connaissance de cette réalité.

Why do you automatically portray people looking at you as racism? It doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with your skin color. Sometimes people are simply curious. If I walked through an African country where there are very few white people, I’m pretty sure I would get curious looks too. That doesn’t automatically mean people are racist. Looking at someone isn’t, by itself, proof of racism.
