Not a huge population, but look into the Cuban Chinese. Chinese people who migrated from China and ended up in Cuba in the 30s-50s. Then fled Cuba in the revolution and many ended up in Miami.

This is rapidly changing if you're including the entire Miami metropolitan area. The city of Miami and surrounding areas in Miami-Dade county doesn't have as much, but Broward and Palm Beach County has a rapidly growing East Asian population.

Most Filipinos in Miami are from Southern Philippines that speak Cebuano Bisaya. This is the exact opposite of California which is a mix of Ilocano and Tagalog

I went to highschool with two. One girl who was Chinese. The other boy was Chinese Puerto Rican, so he fit into the Hispanic community at my school. He was our valedictorian. ☺️

I thought it was because there used to be no direct flights to Florida from Asia until the 2000s and education, there is no NYU, Stanford, MIT....level schools in Florida?

That’s not true. It’s because there are no top tier universities in Miami. Thats where Asian immigrants moved to in the 80s and 90s and built communities — around good schools.
