الشيخ مصطفى إسماعيل (1905–1978) هو أحد أقطاب دولة التلاوة المصرية، ويُعرف بلقب “أعجوبة القراء” و”قارئ الملوك والرؤساء” لما جمعه من عبقرية في الأداء وسلطان على المقامات. صاحب أطول نفس في التجويد، وأحد القرّاء الأربعة الكبار في مصر🤍 وُلد في قرية “ميت غزال” مركز السنطة بمحافظة الغربية في 17 يونيو 1905، لأب فلاح بسيط حرص على أن يحفظ ابنه القرآن، فأدخله كتّاب القرية وهو في الخامسة. المسيرة أتم حفظ القرآن قبل أن يتجاوز الثانية عشرة، ثم التحق بالمعهد الأحمدي في طنطا لدراسة القراءات وأحكام التلاوة، وراجع القرآن ثلاثين مرة على يد الشيخ إدريس فاخر. بدأ في قرى الغربية ثم ذاعت شهرته حتى اعتمدته الإذاعة المصرية في الأربعينيات، وصار قارئ القصر الملكي، ثم قارئ الجامع الأزهر أجمع العلماء والفنانون على استثنائية الشيخ مصطفى إسماعيل، فوصفوه بأنه أعجوبة عصره وصاحب العرش في فن القراءة، ومن أبرز ما قيل فيه أنه كان يسقي الناس جمال القرآن. They called him A’jubat Al-Qurra’ — the Wonder of Reciters — for a mastery of more than nineteen maqamat and a breath that seemed to have no end. He stood among the Four Giants of modern recitation: Mustafa Ismail, Al-Minshawi, Abdul Basit Abdus Samad, and Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary. He recited for the royal palace, then for presidents, then for the Jami’ Al-Azhar until the end of his life — and his voice traveled to Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and beyond, wherever hearts needed reminding.
