To those of you shocked about Illinois: everywhere outside of Chicagoland is basically the Deep South. There are towns that still have signs that say "No N*****s, No Mexicans" and they WILL threaten you with guns if you are there after dark. Several of them have very openly identifying Nazi bars. I'm gay and I don't stop in many places in Illinois when driving through unless I know the area (I grew up in the state and know where I can safely go.)
