I got out of jury duty because I wasn’t sound of mind and of good moral character. I have bipolar so there’s no guarantee that I’d be able to be a good juror at all.

As someone who used to work for a court house typically if you say u have something planned that you have they will release you. You just have to say that it will be on ur mind during the trial (which could distract you from the trial). They usually will excuse you but they will make you sit back down and finish out the day it’s odd Ik but it typically works.

I’ve heard a lot of people say during their interview process for picking the jury. They will say something about believing in the death penalty and they don’t get picked.

when I had it anyone that gave a reason got out of it. they told us they could even reschedule our jury duty if needed

Sadly I think a lot of people use the mental illness that don’t have one to get out. Makes it hard for those who really do.
