I'm a casual who has been getting into the "comp" side of dbd ( ladder, learning clock call outs) My gripe with the comp scene is that it is fundamentally separated from the rest of the player base ( farther apart than other comp scenes) For a pub match to be decided by simply 3k, 4k/ 3 out, 4 out, and then the comp counterpart to need wincons such as hooks/ generators , it highlights the fact that the game is already too unbalanced to create a respectable scene. There simply are too many workarounds to create the illusion of fairness, and too much RNG that decide matches ( ladder).

Dbd is not meant to be a full competitive game. Outside of adding 1v1s bhvr hasnt had any official Full competitive competitions/tournament s outside of the community cup which had alot of restrictions on items, perks and etc to keep balance. Pretty much all the competitions are hosted by the community. the devs have consistently stated that Dead by Daylight was designed as a party game centered on emergent horror stories and scenarios, rather than a hyper-competitive esport that people are treating and acting like it is. The game is designed to be casual. Mmr is anything special it just escapes/kills and Grades ash to iridescent DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR MMR it's just a rewards system, you don't even have to escape to level it up. No singular perk is a Crutch perk it's the kit you run. I don't have any problems with the comp scene it's just they are treating it like it's MEANT and MADE to be highly competitive. The devs have said multiple times there is never gonna be a ranked/competitive mode added, which says alot about the game. My main problem is toxicity on both sides about everything in a fairly balanced game in my opinion and Dc'ing is a HUGE problem which needs to be punished more.

Personally, I feel dbd has an identity crisis. Dbd was never meant to be competitive, but now it’s trying to lean more into the competitive scene and is leaving the horror genre in the dirt.

there are always going to be competitive and passionate people on pvp games, in turn, creating a competitive scene where like minded players come together. If you’re a casual that’s fine but don’t complain about a “nonexistent” competitive side of dbd bc you don’t have the same mindset. just because there are not tourneys officially hosted by bhvr themselves doesn’t mean the scene doesn’t exist. Even then, the comp scene, more specifically DBDL the biggest league in the scene, was officially recognized by bhvr. plz stop saying this game was meant to be a party horror. anyone who plays this game consistently regardless if ur casual or comp knows the horror element has been dwindling and is almost nonexistent unless you’re a 10hr player. it’s okay to be casual and it’s okay to be comp. just accept it!

The reason is, is that they will abuse a certain perk comp and get it nerfed or say something is overpowered for them and get it changed or nerfed and behavior will listen to only them. It’s either cater to babies or to comp players and no in between

Imo people shouldn't com0laon about loosing in dbd when they make no effort to learn the game. Being casual doesn't not mean ignoring absolutely every tip to get better. If you're not even trying ddo do something for the win you shouldn't complain when you loose

Comp has been THE way for me to ejoy the game ngl, learning the game, figuring stuff out, and getting better felt amazing so I eventually got into comp. Now I see actually how much deeper the games skill expression goes and I'm loving every minute of the journey. When it comes to pubs I never play fully focused meta on coms because at some point its just not fun. But I can still enjoy casual swiffing with people from dbd official
