We did this in milwaukee! Each store is now an apartment. A couple of department stores are still open on the main level. The food court is busy. And theirs pickleball courts in the main area.

I was thinking today. If I was rich. I would by my ENTIRE apartment complex. I would let all my neighbors live there for free for as long as they see fit. I would start a community garden large enough to feed us all. I would start education and job programs. I would expect nothing in return because if my community flourishes as do I. I never understand the selfishness of the rich. You can’t take money to your grave; but people will remember your name no matter what you do. Make it a good name.
