@neuronpond: Neurotypical brains can self-motivate using internal rewards and delayed consequences. They can do a boring task today because they know it will benefit them next week. The ADHD brain has a chronic dopamine deficiency, meaning it requires Immediate External Consequences to initiate a task. Video games, scrolling, and high-stress situations provide immediate, external feedback loops. Basic adult chores (laundry, emails, taxes) provide zero immediate feedback. Because the ADHD brain cannot bridge that gap internally, you experience Executive Dysfunction (Task Paralysis). It isn't laziness. It is a neurogenetic executive failure. Tips: You have to stop relying on internal willpower, you don't have it. You must artificially create immediate, external consequences for your tasks. Use body doubling (social pressure), gamify your chores (immediate dopamine), or tie a highly stimulating reward to the exact moment you finish the task. Work with your nervous system's need for consequences, instead of shaming yourself for not having them. Credit: Dr. Russell A. Barkley

Maybe reinforcement treats like in the case of pets? You plan on getting your favorite dessert or doing your favorite activity after completing the task as your reward?
