Unfortunately someone with addiction can only be helped if they want to be helped. They will only get clean if they want to. All you can do is try but she says no , there’s not much else you can do. Pushing will push her away further.

I’m retired from working in men’s prisons. Especially working with addiction recovery. And have seen so many addicts that have become clean say they would never be back to prison or go back to drugs or alcohol. I’ve seen some succeed but very few and unfortunately usually see their faces soon after again. Don’t let Kingston get too excited about hopes and promises which could be a rotation of disappointments. You might visit an addiction counseling center as a family.

coming from someone who was once in addiction.. you cannot push someone into something they are not ready for. even if they look or feel like rock bottom.. as addicts you find that rock bottom has a basement, a trap door persay.. my advice for you guys is keep checking in but do not push. The second you asked if she was ready for a change she bolted. she might not feel worthy of your kindness or doesnt understand or trust her or you. the people she deals with daily in addiction almost always have ulterior motives and if she is on dr*gs her state of mind will be altered. I pray for all 4 of you and I hope she will accept the help at some point but she wont until shes ready. Just keep checking in. Maybe start eith a little prepaid phone for her to gain her trust. nothing fancy just something to check in.. that way if and when she has decided for herself she has a way to contact you.

This WHOLE time, I have seen resemblance between King and his mom on this channel🤯🤯🤯.. there is SOOO much love in this family.. This hits home for me. My sister unfortunately succumbed to her addiction. Myself and my family had many different grief professionals, before and after. The focus is not what you can/ could have done. The only thing you can do is talk - don't push. Listen - don't judge. Encourage - don't blame. Anything else can enable.. People only change when they are willing to change... I wish you luck, and pray for y'all. What YOU'RE doing for Kingston is enough, please focus on that. Anything else is just fruit for others. My sister had two kids, and one is not in our direct families lives, fully. But she is prosperous with her adopted family. And she knows we are here in the future, when she has questions. Just keep moving forward. Keep supporting Kingston and yourselves first. It is hard on the kids more than how people know.. You can't help anyone before you take care of yourselves. Your family is great. Thanks for sharing this. I'm a nobody to your family, but I'd be happy to help if you ever need. I do, unfortunately, know what this is like.. 🙏
