At the end of the day we will never know lol Tonga has the oldest archaeological evidence TO DATE meaning older settlements can still be found at a later time and this happens all the time lol DNA is on the Samoan side which points to Samoa as the centre. Both have good points and we can all argue forever but we will never know. I believe Tui Manu’a was before Tui Tonga. That doesn’t mean I’m 100% correct lol let’s just learn to get along bradaz

That’s one theory. Historians and archaeologists still debate aspects of Polynesian origins and migration. What I’ve always found interesting is watching academics and people online debate Tongan royal genealogy, while the royal family themselves rarely seem to involve themselves in those debates.

I think it's important that Tongan parents humble their children by teaching them this fact the same with our traditional taualunga adopted from Samoan siva... and war dance from Fiji... my dad explained this to me I love my father so I accept this fact 👍🏾

ok we know our royal family are from upolu. but thats just that bloodline and it was his mother that married a tongan king which means his tongan because you dont claim the mothers side you claim the fathers side just like our last name is our father's side. but yes the king did bring the samoan chiefs over like lauaki and they dont have no samoan bloodline left in them but they do still recognize our samoan connection and also their fijian connection. I love it.
