@sarashaeline: IMO nursing is one of the coolest jobs out there and the perks are pretty nice. Here are a few. #registerednurse #nursingtips #bedsidenurse #nurselife #nursingstudents

As a RN, I picked up one extra shift per week at time and a half. Doing so allowed my wife to be a stay at home mom. Best career ever.

Why do I see so many nurses (on here) say they're broke or don't make good money?

Yeah, it’s easy to say hard to do. Extra shifts eat your soul. I’ve also never met a person who did six in a row and feel good about their life. You spend at least two days trying to recover.

She’s not lying this is all very true I’ve been an RN for 4 years first two years in icu I would set my schedule to work 6 in a row and have 8 days off each time it was great and took many trips without needing PTO now I do per diem I work 50-60 hours a week choose my schedule my hours no call required and I make 4-5k a week don’t need to request time off I do cath lab, cath lab recovery, interventional radiology, CT angio and stress testing. Make 80/hr 120 after & hrs and 160 after 12. Nursing seriously is the best it you know how to use it to make it work for you non of my specialities requires me to take care of a patient for 12 hours

Most nurses didn’t grow up “dreaming of helping people.” They hit adulthood with no real plan, saw they could spend 2–4 years getting an RN, land a stable job with decent money and benefits, and went, “Fuck it, I guess I’ll be a nurse.” Then five years later they act like Florence Nightingale personally called them into the profession. Nah, you panic-picked a career with job security.
