might as well have told her you were "a soda jerk who served the best egg creams at the drive in and every pay day you'd take your shiney nickel to buy penny whistles and marbles." we're old.

When I tell my children about the 90’s they literally hold my hand with looks of concern like I’m telling them I was a medieval peasant girl who survived the plague. The way my son gasped and clutched his pearls a few times.

The things we take for granted that we assumed our kids will know! My GenZ kids had no clue what an “ashtray” was. “You mean people smoked cigarettes..INSIDE the house?” Oh the reaction when I told them their grandfather would smoke with us all in the car..with the windows rolled up!. The other funny one was my son was pledging a frat and had to take an older “brothers” beater truck to pick up supplies to make a new frat bar. He tells me “Mom..the car used a key. Like a REAL key! I didn’t know where to put it or how to start the truck!”. He had only ever seen/used a key fob. 🤣

My brother and I had 2 paper routes. I miss the smell of fresh papes and cracking it down the middle to fold them in. Sundays were the worst! We had to stuff extra large duffel bags and hide them behind trees to refill after each block!

Did you tell her that you would call people from the only phone in the house tethered to a wall using a number you found in a big yellow book. Tell us about the old days Grandpa.

I babysat from 10 until 14. When I was 13 I babysat a 3 week old. He was so adorable. The mom never came home. I had to call my mom. She had to call the police. Imagine that happening now. All of it.
