@maddiewitdafatti: this morning i witnessed something absolutely heartbreaking in Cutler Bay. A truck blew through multiple peacocks. hitting multiple birds. One was killed, and another was struck. from what I personally witnessed the driver did not honk, slow down or make any attempt to avoid the birds, despite their being no oncoming traffic and what appeared to be plenty of opportunity to do so. I immediately called the police and the responding officer told me there was nothing they could do because Peacock are in an invasive species. however, from my understanding of the law. yes, while Peacock are a non-native species they are still protected from intentional harm under Florida law, and Cutler Bay has ordinances specifically protecting its peafowl population. it is unacceptable for animals to be intentionally harmed, and I hope this incident is taken seriously. these birds have been a part of our community for years and deserve compassion and protection. #cutlerbay #peacock #animals #fyp #foryoupage
