Even in the 70’s and 70’s when Detroit was going through some hard times, it was still an awesome gritty city! It has really gone through a renaissance as of late. I love Detroit. My dad was born at his parents home in Detroit 77 years ago near the “Corner” of Michigan and Trumbull during a Tigers double header. In laws both born and raised in Detroit. My grandpa was a crane operator and helped with the construction of the Renaissance Center (GM) headquarters. Belle isle is beautiful. So many beautiful buildings and museums. Great people. The riverwalk is so beautiful! Sporting events in Detroit are so much fun! I could go on and on!

One of the silver linings of Detroit's financial issues was not having enough investment during the 70's and 80's to tear down buildings like The Guardian, The Fisher and The Book. Many cities went through a remodel. Only New York and Chicago can rival Detroit's architecture.
