@a_dre_day: 1️⃣Careless People: If you’ve ever been an OG startup employee watching a brand’s mission go real sour real quick, this will validate all your suspicions about tech oligarchs. Wish the author took more accountability, but it’s a must-read. 2️⃣Ripe: Not going to lie. This one is pretty grim. if you’ve ever felt so numb and on autopilot and for what? You only have one life, and it doesn't need to be spent working for jerks. 3️⃣More or Less Maddy: It follows the main character navigating bipolar disorder, and it really helped me see the light of having personal hobbies. It’s a beautiful look at using humor to cope and reclaim your identity when you feel like you're losing control. 4️⃣Girl on Girl: The author catalogues the past few decades of interaction between pop culture, women, and feminism through various topics. It literally feels like every few years we have a new bar to hit—Lean In culture, Boss Babe... but now I’m feeling like, where do we go from here?! 5️⃣Hidden Potential: highlights the character we develop when we’re willing to try new things, make mistakes, and start before we truly feel ready. The perfect post-crash out read. #corporatecrashout #BookTok #techtok #womenintech #girlbossrecovery

Careless People was so good, I worked at a FAANG and I thought everything she said was plausible given what I know of the environment

ooooooo i love whatever genre this is. have you read Uncanny Valley? it belongs on this list. It’s about the golden handcuffs and bro culture in silicon valley. Also How to do Nothing. one of my faves about resisting the attention economy and letting yourself be bored to become more in tune with yourself creatively and spiritually
