I feel like a lot of the nursing violence problem is violence against women. You know he wouldn’t dare do that to a male nurse, he’d get his ass beat.

In the ICU, we had a GI surgeon who would come in every day, sometimes multiple times a day and scream at nurses in the patients rooms. He sometimes threw things at us. It would not be over an error…it was over tape, not getting in the room fast enough, etc.

Nurses have no protections against the doctors. They can talk to you and treat you however they want. I have gone to HR over verbal abuse and even my nursing supervisor did not stand up for me although in private conversation she claimed she seen my side but.... well... ummm...
