Prices of memory is crazy now. 5 years ago I could buy a server with 768gb of memory for 55k. Today I asked for a new server to replace this server I bought 5 years ago and the price came back at 165k. Same server model.

The key is, that running LLM's locally on a computer can't be done with less than 16 GB, so it's forcing a generational upgrade cycle in home PCs as well as commercial data centers

But here’s the thing though memory is gonna be here forever. There is never going to be a time where they say hey, we’re gonna build this product without a memory bank. You need to store something somewhere. You need to have a brain you need storage it’ll always be here. It’ll the value of it will always go up and down, but it will always be there forever until the world blows up and human life doesn’t need it anymore.
