Both are good there's lots of players that play more the first way than the second.. I do a little bit of both by straightening out the timing sometimes.. Also it depends on if it's a dotted eighths or straight eighths.. Generally when you hear the groove you instinctively know how to phrase it.. I love swinging straight eights just a little bit.. Sorry I'm going a little too deep here ....good lesson
