He knew something was off the moment he saw her too after her transformation into being a vampire. He knew something was off, and he even called it out when he said smth along the lines of “whatever you are now”. He definitely noticed she was no longer breathing, he definitely noticed she was paler, he definitely knew something was different. He lived through her life after she met Edward thinking she was being abused, and then she had to disappear. He had to watch her go through literal WITHDRAWAL symptoms when edward disappeared, he watched her go CRAZY in his eyes.

Honestly Bella and Edwards relationship felt like abuse to me, it always off put me how she had the most gut-wrenching nightmares after he left her and also the fact that she was willing to do absolutely insane shit just to see him made me feel like she was highly dependent on him and he kinda used that. All because he was infatuated with the fact that he couldn't read her mind. It creeped me out as I got older but I honestly still love the movies so much, they hold a special place in my heart.
