It has nothing to do with the job. You have to know how to spend within your budget. I pay my bills on time so I have a good credit score (lower interest rate). I keep my car for years after it’s paid off so I have money for a down payment. I shop for a car I can afford not the car I want. I bought a new Subaru forester in 2024 with a payment of $387/month.

Project manager and my husband is in the Navy plus works for the government. We have one car payment (Land Rover Discovery) that is literally less than $400 a month financed through Navy Federal with excellent credit. Our other car a Honda is paid off. Even though we make the money, there’s no way I’m paying that much money for a car payment! Plus, we own our home. Just because you make the money doesn’t mean that you have to literally give it away every month in car payments that I just as much as a mortgage.
