@topchoicedogtraining: When Ash first came to me, he was a sweet, energetic 10-month-old Vizsla/German Shorthaired Pointer mix who just didn't know how to slow down. He was constantly looking for ways to entertain himself- counter surfing, stealing laundry, jumping up, mouthing his owners, and testing every boundary. Walks weren't enjoyable because he pulled hard on the leash, and taking him out to places like restaurants was stressful because he struggled to settle and would bark at people for attention. Even though he already knew "sit" and "down," those commands only worked at home with little to no distractions and definitely didn't last for any duration. Off leash, it was hard to trust him because bugs, other dogs, or anything he found interesting could pull his attention away. Now Ash walks politely on leash, stays engaged around distractions, holds his place when his family needs him to settle, and comes when called instead of chasing every distraction around him. He went home a week ago and his owners have been putting in the work at home, practicing consistently and following through every day because that’s what creates lasting results. I’ve already done one of their check-in lessons at their home and they’re doing an awesome job. So proud of Ash and the dedication his owners have shown throughout this process. ❤️🐶
