before yall start acting dumb in the comments im part japanese, my mom was a gal in the early 2000s, ive been to japan w my make / coords and no one was calling me “not gyaru” or “yabi” 😹 gyaru was always based on trends so obviously the style is gonna evolve and adapt to new trends 😭✌️there are so many gals in japan that dont follow conventional heisei era make or do their makeup similarly to me yet no one is calling them “douyin” or “yabi” bc theyr a japanese gal LOL and mind you i go on the r/actualgyaru subreddit and theres a bunch of non-asian gals that do their makeup similar to me just executed worse than me yet no one is saying anything to them 😹 i dont understand this double standard yall js love to drag east asian gals

This style is Yabi. Yabi is a subculture of Gyaru. The specific contouring techniques and the way the eye makeup is done is based on both Gyaru and Douyin makeup trends.

people saying ur makeup isn't Gyaru wouldnt be saying this if you didn't have your ethnic features. if you had smaller eyes and smaller lips or even just if you were WHITE they would NOT SAY A THING!!!!!! her makeup is Gyaru, just cause her bone structure doesn't live up to your standards for a "real Gyaru" doesnt mean she isn't.

I love seeing gyaru brought into the present! 💖 Gyaru was always trendy so I don’t think it has to stay frozen in 2007. None of us knew what a button nose contour was back then but if it had been a huge beauty trend I bet it would’ve made its way into gyaru makeup too.
