I saw somebody do something similar and they gave each of their children a specific insect and every time they marked their height they would paint their insect at said height.

My dad bought 7 foot tall pieces of 2x4 and for every major milestone in our lives he'd mark our height and write the milestone too (including my first period, first boyfriend, the day I bought my first car, etc)

My parents still live in my childhood home with the door that has our marks on it. I now have 4 kids so my husband made me double sided boards like this and put a hinge on it so it’s like a book. This flower garden is so pretty!

You can mod podge a fabric tape measure down the middle so you know the actual height of each mark. just remember to cut on the first foot before mounting it to the wood.

I love this! So beautiful! My husband found a beautiful piece of drift wood and did the same thing (minus the flowers). I love having the height chart to mark each birthday. I never ever plan on moving, but it also gives the option to move it to a different spot in the house if we want to - or pass it down the family. 🩷

When we renovated our first home my dad took an old door frame we were ripping out, when we had our first child he gave it back to us as a height chart, now it’s in our new home and the most treasured item ever 🥹
