So it's not normal to start crying when someone points something out to me/criticizes me?

I’m so tired of hearing about my tone 🥲 it’s MONOTONE sometimes how does that translate to anger 🥲 (I tell everyone I have ASD too)

I'm great in a crisis. I'm the person that calls 911, takes control of the situation. But lord have mercy if I drop a pen while having a bad day, cause then starts the meltdown

At work when I'm on my lunch I don't like the break room. I find a hidden spot and eat by myself because that's my regulating time

Genuinely why are autistic people more emotional? I’m genuinely curious! 🩷

I work as an rbt, im highly functioning with only low level support needed. I legit work with children who have asd same as me, my boss knows i have it. all my bosses know this, even the director and owners of the company know this (one of them was estatic to find iut i had it during my interview, and i believe jts one of the factors that landed me this job). yet when im having a bad day or crying while still trying to do work and remain as functioning and professional as I can be I get legit my whole schedule shifted around or I get talked down to or just overall treated worse. How can people with degrees and legit study and make treatment therapy plans for children with autism treat an employee who has it like she doesnt and treats her worse over it as well.

first one is so unhelpful cause I'm gonna be second guessing everything from that point. I'd rather be called out on the moment so we can look for a better way to word it together

That happened to me. Employer said I was to sensitive. Teased me about it with my fellow workers. I haven’t been in the workforce since. I am not some minstrel people can laugh at. I am a human being.

This is so validating, hearing someone talk about the delayed reactions. I feel luke this affects every area of my lofe, and it has led to so much self-doubt, confusion, and grief. Thank you so much for posting on this.

Thank you for posting this. I’m level 1 autistic. Basically I masked the heck out of childhood and then found ways to accommodate myself as an adult when I just couldn’t keep up the energy to mask. To an outsider, they wouldn’t really think anything’s up. But something huge is that i can’t get through a job interview because the pressure/intensity makes me breakdown and cry (like the boss’s feedback in the video). It means when I land I job, I stick with it forever, even if I should move on from that job, simply because I can’t do an interview without breaking down and embarrassing myself. It’s absolutely crippling. 😞

I have not been diagnosed with autism (even though I feel like I can totally relate in many ways), but I do have ADHD and I have these same problems! I hate getting feedback or “constructive feedback” because I feel like I’m doing everything wrong and nothing right. I wish employers gave feedback but also positive feedback to ensure employees and make seem like more of a learning opportunity
