@miaparziale: I want to keep the pink hair but this up keep is rough. What are we doing about the regrowth and gray hairs? I don’t want to just bleach the roots 😩 #colorgrayhair #funhaircolor #hairdye
I’m a stylist, the goldwell elumen is super vivid and sticks to greys REALLY well, like too well haha it takes forever to fade. So make sure you really like the color before putting it on your entire head

Goldwell Elumen. I have dark brown hair and big patches of white/gray hair. I do purple because it blends with my gray as it fades/grows out. This is about 3 weeks fading/growth.

I think it looks cool. One of my mostly grey clients uses a colored conditioner. To refresh their blue and camo their grey.

I’m a vivid stylist, I swear by color depositing conditioner- I’m almost 40 and I’ve got pink hair. The pink isn’t taking as well to the new growth, bc semi permanent color works better after a chemical process that lifted the cuticle on the hair. You can even just put ten volume developer on your hair for 20 mins with no color, and then do your vivid after! I would get hot pink kera color color depositing Clenditioner and use ONLY that shampoo when you wash. You can also do what I call a “ color bomb” which I make for my clients as a color refresh between appts- it’s just color mixed with conditioner, and you put it on like a hair mask n leave it as long as you like. If you have any questions feel free to ask away!

I’m a hairstylist and I’m confused why someone won’t just highlight your regrowth and color that pink

You can color the gray at home with vivids just let it sit for as long as possible. Direct dyes like vivids are just pigment in conditioner. It won’t be the same color but it’ll be like a vivid balayage.

You can go ask for a partial, then get home and retouch the color at home. They don’t have to strip the color, just a partial foil on your roots. I’m a stylist so I’ve always done my own partial foils before touch ups. I didn’t add anything extra for my greys, when the popped through they gave extra dimension.

Nothing sticks to grey. I hate it. I do my hair myself, so I'll just bleach bath my roots when needed, every month or so - because the grey is virgin hair it lightens super easy. But again, I always do my hair at home because I change it so often, going to the salon would be too expensive.

have you tried pravana everlasting? I have a client who I mix magenta and poison Berry for, 20vol on roots, 10 on ends, and it stays her full 8 weeks! covers gray with no lightening

I used Lime Crime on mine and that stuck like crazy to my greys. As it would grow out I would just do another round of it since it’s a semi permanent and not damaging. I did a 50/50 split of olaplex and color. Kept it on for probably 30-40 minutes. I’ve found most of the professional vivids do not stay in my greys, but Lime Crime will.

goldwell elumen sticks permanently to grey hair. but you are committed to that color. I use the purple directly on my white roots and it stays so well no bleaching

Your hair stylist should be able to just highlight on top of the pink and then either refresh it or you go home and refresh it yourself. I have a lot of clients that I just do the bleach work and they do the vivid at home but ultimately vivids are temporary colors/direct dye and they do not penetrate the cuticle. Grey hair has a tighter cuticle so most temporary colors will not stay on very long. Ultimately bleaching first, no matter how light your natural color is, will give the best results. I have pink pulp riot in my hair and it fades every time I wet my hair down even without shampooing.

I’m a hairstylist the regrowth is touched up only with highlighting then pink second step nothing is stripped stop analyzing how it’s done it grew it needs to retouched and if you want this look there’s maintenance there’s no magic “other” option
