The saddest part of some of these comments is that they’re repeating the very cycle they claim to hate. If Perez lacked compassion for people during their darkest moments, why would the answer be to lack compassion for him during his? Accountability and empathy can exist at the same time. Hoping someone survives a mental health crisis isn’t excusing their past, it’s recognizing that another human being is suffering. If we only show mercy to people we think deserve it, then mercy has no meaning. Praying for Perez and his children. 😞
