There comes a point in healing where you stop needing everybody to understand what happened. You stop rehearsing your side of the story in your head, imagining the conversation where you finally explain everything perfectly and everyone suddenly realizes you weren’t the person they were told you were. You stop correcting every rumor, defending every decision, and trying to convince people who already chose which version of the story they wanted to believe. Not because the truth stopped mattering, but because your peace started mattering more. You know what happened. The people closest to you know your character. And eventually, that’s enough. Life keeps moving whether somebody apologizes, takes accountability, or finally understands what they did to you. So you heal without the closure you thought you needed. You learn who checked on you when things got difficult, who defended your name when you weren’t in the room, who listened without turning your pain into entertainment, and who disappeared the second being your friend became inconvenient. And maybe that’s the greatest thing difficult seasons reveal: the seating chart. Some people earned a permanent place at your table because of how they loved you when you had nothing to offer except honesty and a difficult season. Others taught you exactly why they should never have access to you again. I don’t need revenge. I don’t need everyone to pick my side. I don’t even need you to understand why the door is closed. I learned what I needed to learn, healed what I needed to heal, and moved forward. The table is smaller now, but the people sitting around it are people I no longer have to question.
