Maintenance men are like insurance policies. You can pay for full coverage low deductible and get your equipment back online quickly, or pay for liability and your equipment is down for days. That’s up to the employers willingness to pay well or not.

I wish we had maintenance guys like you at our plant, ours just ask how the equipment works for fifteen minutes and then I have to run new air lines or replace bearings myself because the line has to keep moving

I was that annoying operator. I went and got an entry level job doing basic maintenance and worked my way up, got electrical training after a couple years and then after getting a little more experience went back to my first job doing maintenance instead.

Always hear about how they worked maintenance at their last job but their knees or back couldn’t take it anymore or some other reason. So you’re telling me you took a massive pay cut to be an operator only to work harder and be tied to a machine all day? 🤔

I went to a call the other night for a packing machine ethernet losing internet. the operator on the computer was trying to figure it out. I made the joke that it sounded like an IT problem he then went on to tell me he had a degree in computer tech engineer but never done nothing with it. I told him no wonder cause here's your problem and showed him the ethernet cord needed a new end.
