@lorenraina: I took my single lady hat off and put my event strategist hat on and looked at what did and didn't work for the Ques Conclave 💜💛 60,000 members (and guests) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. came to a city of ~300,000 for their biennial Conclave and spent $10 million (and counting) in just three days. Here's what they got right 1. The city flexed its own rules - Downtown and Fountain Square — the hub between host hotels and the convention center — usually closes shop at midnight or earlier. It stayed open until 2–3am, giving tens of thousands of visitors a communal space beyond standard protocol. This allowed for additional commerce and community to take place, a win win for all. Proving that cities that flex for the moment win big. 2. Safety was planned, not policed. Coordination with the police department happened far before the event — and 60,000 Black men and guests gathered all weekend without incident. This cannot be overstated in this country especially at this point in time. Preparation was prioritized over presence - I was out all weekend and never felt like I was being policed. That doesn't happen by accident and I can't tell you how emotionally freeing it felt. 3. Many local businesses were ready. Restaurants located in the immediate area and selected food vendors seemed to win big as well as local Black owned businesses who tapped in and created a weekend of experiences for our guests. However, I think there was a big opportunity missed by many other businesses to lean in. Here are two opportunities for the next host city of a major event: 4.  Late-night food was nowhere to be found. Almost nothing open after hours — no brick-and-mortar strategy, no late night food truck plan. And it was a constant talking point - people asking where to get food. So definitely revenue was left on the table every single night. And I saw virtually zero vendors selling swag and late night food options were few and far between. 5. A community engagement plan that connects the local community would've been key. There were several publicly accessible events that the Ques hosted, however, many residents never heard about them (including me 🥹) . Hella people didn't realize that they could be apart of the festivities. More communication and engagement would've allowed residents and visitors to actually mix - a common complaint I heard was "where are all the women" 😅 #Cincinnati #EventStrategy #omegapsiphi

I was told that the city reached out to surrounding police agencies who and extended opportunities to members of the frat to work as security for the clave. Very smart on their part.

Thank you! The events connected to the Clave were mostly sold out: The Step-Show was connected to the registration. The welcome event had great community engagement from the local D9 members had months advance notice. The Cincy Police did an amazing job. The Black Owned Business, Uber&Lyft made a bag. The local eateries showed spectacular hospitality. Da Bruhz stayed in Kentucky at many hotels as well. The community support demonstrated an exemplar for other small market cities on the power of the Black Dollar. Chicago 2028 has been put on notice. The total actually from Omega IHQ was $12.9M and more than $7.1M to local business in Cincy from Wednesday, July 29th- Monday, August 2nd! We came handled the business of Omega and expanded the image of Black Men and specifically Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Thank you for your support Cincy!!!!

Appreciate the love but our numbers were more closely to 30k …and that stretched the infrastructure. 60k would have made it collapsed. But Cincy showed the Bruhz love! 💪🏽💪🏽💜💜

My daughter works at the bar of the oldest hotel in cincinnati and their kitchen and bar stayed open 2 hours past close to accommodate this event. They were so busy and the conclave tipped so well! She had nothing but wonderful things to say. We hope they consider cincinnati again as a future destination sooner rather than later!

I live in Cinci (suburb), and was downtown over the weekend a couple times, every SINGLE PERSON I saw looked like they were having a great time! I am THRILLED to see this big an event hosted so well by our city, and for Cincinnati to have such a huge Black centered event makes me feel like maybe we are really making the city we want to live in! Loved hearing your perspective as someone who has a better perspective.

Hey Soror! Super interesting post! I love to hear this because we bring a lot of important tourism dollars and benefit local businesses; our safety is non-negotiable.

Also, I didn’t know about this until it was here. And even then, I didn’t realize how BIG it was or how amazing until it was here. After the first night I started to hear good things… but next time, as long as I’m welcome, I’ll be there. In Chicago next time? I’m tempted….

WE OUTSIDE :
so let's look at this another way if the Qs brought 60 thousand people together imagine if they gave 100 a month that 6 million a month thats thats 72 million dollars a year they can start buying up cities or land to build their/our own cities or even on a larger scale there is roughly 49 million black ppl in America let's say we formed a corporations and we was able to get at least 29 million people to give 100 a month thats 2.9 billion a month thats 34.8 billion a year imagine what we could do 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
