@ishikawa_sachi: #グリーンスクリーン Two young women died after being instructed to return to the Aeon mall in Kumamoto to secure company cash. At the same time, women in evacuation shelters are being told on TV to wear darker, less revealing clothing to reduce the risk of sexual assault. Women shouldn’t have to die protecting company property. Women shouldn’t have to change their clothes to avoid being assaulted. Stop asking women to manage the consequences of other people’s decisions. Start asking why the burden is almost always placed on us.
I know that manga are works of fiction and not exactly reliable sources of information, but I still remember reading *Tokyo Magnitude 8* in elementary school. One thing that really stayed with me was how the women organized to protect each other after the disaster. They wore multiple layers of clothing to make SA more difficult, put cotton pads in their cheeks to make themselves look less attractive, and worked together to keep men out of their shelter. One of the most terrifying illustration was a mob of men trying to force entry in the woman shelter to 🍇 them.
Thank you for doing what you do !

Adventures of Snow :
one would think a police force and government would warn men that they will be in the lookout for SA and SA attempts and the perpetrators will face full consequences. to beg women to do the work seems very cowardly, as though the government is also afraid of the men who attempt sa

I recently saw a video of a former humanitarian aid worker and she was explaining exactly this. That during emergencies men including male colleagues are known to use the chaos to harm women and children.

In relation to evacuation centers, I’ve seen stories of families with infants having to sleep in their cars because they’re worried the cries would disturb other people. It’s honestly so sad

Their boss who told them to go back in should be fired. Apology or not, that boss and business would be sued if this was the US.

Absolutely heartbreaking and infuriating that these women were sent into disaster. All for selfish, greedy motives. I really hope there could be more ethical equality and worker’s protection rights. So that this tragedy doesn’t repeat itself

If those women had survived and the money was loss, I feel like they would be harassed at work over the loss.

After SA reports from the Hanshin earthquake, flyers were given out at evacuation centres for the Tohoku earthquake highlighting the problem and suggesting ways to protect people. It’s a known issue, yet nothing substantial is ever done 💔

That manager needs to be charged with negligent homicide and they should make laws that you can’t enter buildings in emergencies until officials clear it.

i hope he's arrested idfc that's ill-intent, especially natural disasters like earthquakes and flood are common in Japan and in all of the emergency guidelines none of it mentioned going back into buildings. There's a strict protocol on building evacuation and that men is directly responsible for putting his employees in danger

It took like 9 different articles for me to get any information on Yuse and each of them gives different information while changing or leaving some out. Apparently, he was not working that day. But what he (maybe) said was to “ask if it was okay to head back in before doing so”. I don’t see any police of firemen thinking “meh, well, we did just do an emergency evac, but you can head back in real fast - it’ll be fine” so huge but: a different article quoted him as saying “if you can,” which does not hold anywhere near that same connotation as “if they deem it safe”. That being said, I’m curious about how those girls got back inside. Are there no safeguards, safety perimeters, or professionals to stop people from rushing inside? Or did they actually ask if it was okay to go inside and were given the green light? This story either creates massive implications regarding safety standards or Yuse needs to get charged for manslaughter and examined for power harassment.
