@nadiahmdin: WE’RE BROWN. WE’RE BEAUTIFUL. 🤎 Please read. The other day something happened at a private hospital in Melaka that honestly left me speechless. Inaaya was being wheeled in after a sudden allergic reaction. She was on the bed.I stood beside her in the lift, Bilal on the opposite side- A doctor stepped in, introduced himself to Inaaya " Hi! I am Doctor KXXXX! " stood next to me, complimented Inaaya and asked, “Wah you cantik ah...ikut siapa?” I cheekily replied, “Ikut mak dia lah.” He quickly replied and said to my face ( infront of my daughter) “But you black.” ( Not sure whats that supposed to mean but ok) I responded, “Excuse me? You’re Indian. You have darker skin too.” He replied, “But I’m fairer than you.” laughs. Moments later, he looked at Inaaya and said, “You speak well. Are you sure you’re not mixed Indian? Because only Indians can speak well.” I honestly didn’t know whether he was trying to be funny or if he thought those comments were acceptable. Just to be clear guys- this is not about the Indian community. This is about one person’s remarks. Skin colour should never be used to make someone feel less than, especially by a healthcare professional.😅 ( and also pangkat Dato) Mak sumpah confused. ( YES he is a DATO DOCTOR XXXX) I checked on their board. As he left, he casually asked Inaaya, “So, when can I operate on you?” Inaaya looked at him in confusion but I also saw that she was super uncomfortable. We all left the lift in shocked. Bilal and I asked him of his credentials. He later introduced himself as a surgeon. A surgeon who thinks he is funny to ask a 7 years old kid " When Can I operate on you?" when she was sick on that bed. A girl who was already vulnerable at that state and was not scheduled for ANY OPERATION. Jokes? Bad taste Sorry. I walked away, in disbelief that it all happened… was I overreacting, or was this completely inappropriate? A report was made soon after. So yes, If anyone calls you out for your skin. It's ok, WE BROWN, WE BEAUTIFUL and never let anyone disrespect you. 💪🏼❤️ PS: THIS DOCTOR IS NOT FROM PD DEPARTMENT❤️ A pd would never say this to a child i'm sure. #brownskin #brownskinftw #motherhood #brownbeauty #hospitalmelaka
