I think the painting negan looked at is going to play a significant role in foreshadowing of his character this season. We saw the 2 hills with houses (represents saviors and Alexandria) a tree with a boy on a swing (Carl) and two men shaking hands (Rick and negan deciding on peace, ik it’s more Rick’s decision lol but still) that’s the day negan lost control and lost his power/self. He stares so long he takes the painting back to stare more his smile and almost anger while looking at it to me shows he either regrets the choice horribly and that’s shown by him killing the Dama right after basically going back to his “old self” or it shows us a sense of true change, since the episode talked lonely about what to do with the dama and could she be rehabilitated. This could also mean maybe negan deep down doesn’t feel different and only acts the way he does being “helpful” to save himself
