Hi Susan. Madilu joined OK Jazz in 1980, April. The most famous rhetoric is that he showed up at a hall where Franco was auditioning for new recruits to his band. He settled into the band, but was very feeble in live performances. In August, Franco performed Mama BOBI LADAWA Mobutu's favourite song at the time, Ayant Droit, which due to Wuta Mayi's absence led Bialu Madilu to lead in vocals. He messed up, and Franco threw him out of the band. It was Simaro Lutumba Massiya that actually spoke to Franco, asking him to bring back the young man to the band. To date, Madilu's Achille's heel remains live performances.

Do you know where the name madilu system came from? let me tell you, madilu was performing with franco as a curtain raiser and a backup vocalist in Franco's band . one day their sound technician did not come to work and they were supposed to perform and the sound was not ready . when franco asked who can set the sound system madilu volunteered and set the sound system beyond expectation that's when franco realized that apart of singing well madilu could also set the sound system then he announced on the stage that from that day his name will not only be madilu but madilu system because of setting the sound system beyond expectations.

Ntesa Dalienst (also known as Zitani Dalienst or Ntesa Dalienst Ya Ntesa), a singer and composer already in TPOK Jazz. Madilu System (Jean de Dieu Bialu Makiese) joined TPOK Jazz (Tout-Puissant OK Jazz, Franco Luambo’s band) in April 1980 after leaving Tabu Ley Rochereau’s Afrisa International. He was introduced to Franco by Ntesa Dalienst. For his first few years he mainly did backup vocals and was not highly featured. His breakthrough came around 1983 with the song “Non” (also referred to as “Libala Non”), after which he became one of Franco’s main vocal partners on major hits such as “Mamou”/“Tu Vois?”, “Mario,” and “La Vie des Hommes.” In short: Ntesa Dalienst is the person who brought/introduced Madilu System to OK Jazz.
