There are so many speciality foods to try in Okinawa, so here are some that you should be on the lookout for in no particular order: 1. Blue seal ice cream - Okinawa’s famous ice cream chain, must also get the merch 2. Okinawa soba - a local speciality and the ultimate comfort food, you didn’t come to Okinawa if you didn’t try the soba 3. Seafood - islands = good seafood, I don’t make the rules I just reiterate them 4. Agu pork - never have I ever described pork as sweet before I tried THIS 5. Onigiri - no notes needed for this one, I had to go twice I got addicted 6. Sweet potato everything - and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING 7. Maria shake - you can only find this one on Ishigaki island, IYKYK 8. Shikuwasa - a local citrus fruit, the juice is *chefs kiss* 9. Garlic shrimp - you can eat them shell and all…. like what?! 10. Taco rice - more like a burrito bowl than a taco but still pretty yummy regardless 11. Ishigaki beef - this might actually be better then Kobe wagyu, I mean COME ON 12. Orion beer - you can’t come to Okinawa without copping some Orion beer + merch 13. Okinawa style donuts - they look dry af… but are actually really good specially as a lil sweet treat 14. Chilli awamori - move over chilli oil, this is the condiment of choice in Okinawa for your ramen 15. Salt ice cream - another famous ice cream chain where the toppings are literally flavoured SALTS 16. Sea grapes - these little green pearls are know as the vegetarian caviar of Okinawa 17.
