He still wants him.(not talking about them being in love or anything) Alastor heavily hurt Vox's ego and Vox basically never got over it. Vox is a narcissist who probably had everything he could think of (I mean that man was a white guy in the 50s who later on had a very high position job wise,I heavily headcanon he had a good life unless his parents were abusive or something) ,he simply isn't used to not getting what he wants and it upsets him.

i js think he still wants to be partners with Al and tries to show him how much he's missing out on. i don't think its that deep as others say 😭 Viv said that Vox loved Al, and love doesnt just fade. i doubt that its strong but he had multiple chances to kill Alastor and yet never did it. i mean, Alastor was tied up with broken cane and a rather huge wound, Vox could've easily killed him. also the only times Vox hurt Alastor was when he electrocuded him in don't you forget reprise, when he ripped out his stitiches and Alastor seem uncomfortable, but not in much pain. the moment when he was really hurt was when shock.wave bite him and Vox doesnt Control shock.wave. i think that Vox still likes him, just not so much. he looks kind of sad in a few moments, one of them was in the video when vox realized that its never going to be the same.

This is the theory of mine, when he was human, he had a lot of power I would say since he climbed up like the tower of media or entertainment, studio or something, and when he died and went to hell, I think he saw alastor as like an equal for the first time he wanted to share power with someone but what he got rejected now Vox wants to prove to him that he can be equal to him or better than him even, because he’s never had a challenge like this when he was alive

Vox didn’t just want a partnership. He wanted love, acceptance, approval and a relationship. Here’s what I think about the rejection; Alastor seen potential in Vox, but Vox is power-hungry and also so focussed on approval that he physically can’t allow himself to do anything without a team because he genuinely feels like he can’t. Alastor was cruel, but he genuinely wanted to help Vox, in Alastor’s mind, cruelty gets results. It shows the person they’re cruel to their flaws so they can then improve on them, but to Vox, rejection is worse than death. It means he isn’t good enough, it shows he’s weak. Vox is so focussed on Alastor and approval that he doesn’t realise he doesn’t need an alliance or support, or even to be a god to be powerful. Alastor and Vox are equally as powerful. Alastor’s the strongest sinner of course, but Vox is also strong, he just doesn’t use his strength wisely and Alastor is disappointed in that, because despite Alastor wanting to be the most powerful, he actually understands the importance of knowing when to stop and how to get things done by taking a minute to think. It’s why Alastor will ALWAYS be a successful villain, because he’s actually smart and not power hungry.
