The thing that makes that possible is a "skill" — and almost nobody explains it past the surface. So I went deep (yes, this one's longer — on purpose): A skill isn't a prompt → it's the written-down version of how you do a real job. Think of the doc you'd hand a new hire: the exact steps, the order, what "done" looks like. And it's not one file → it's a folder. One main playbook, plus smaller files it opens only when it needs them ("refund over $500 → open this one"), plus actual code it runs for the steps that have to be exact. Words for judgment, code for what must be right every time. It picks itself → each skill has a one-line description; the AI matches your request to it and grabs the right playbook on its own. The unlock → you don't give it one skill, you give it a shelf. Refunds, onboarding, the weekly report, chasing invoices — each its own folder. That's the moment it stops being a chatbot and becomes an employee. And it's an open standard → the same SKILL.md folder runs on Claude AND OpenAI's Codex. You own the how, not the platform.
