Before signing: • ask what type of document it is • read the complete text carefully • request interpretation if you do not understand Chinese • check whether it accurately reflects what you said • request corrections or additions if anything is missing or incorrect • do not sign blank or incomplete pages A signature may later be used to show that you reviewed and confirmed the document. This does not mean that you should automatically refuse to sign. In criminal proceedings, the safer approach is to understand the document, correct any errors, and clearly record any objection before confirming it.
