Depending on the voltage the kill radius is about 15’. The helper would not have a chance with no suit on and standing in front of the gear

If he's wearing that suit and it goes wrong, that pole isn't going to matter. The concussion from an arc flash that requires that suit will likely kill him. The suit is just the difference between an opened casket and a closed casket.

I have no knowledge of the systems at play here, so could someone explain why it wouldn't be possible to have a specialized rubber lined, super conductive metal covered suit that's attached to a grounding line? Or is there no physical way possible to disperse or redirect that amount of energy?
