@dailymailuk: A banned driver joked about having 59 penalty points on his licence after being pulled over by police, even claiming it had actually been 61 🚔😳 Iain Ashmore, 45, was stopped while driving a white Ford Transit Connect on July 23, despite already being disqualified from driving. Bodycam footage shows officers discovering he had racked up an astonishing 59 points on his licence. Instead of showing concern, Ashmore joked with officers, replying "Oh has it gone down now has it?" before adding: "My mistake, it was 61." Ashmore also complained he was "fed up" with being stopped by police and claimed he was being unfairly targeted after being pulled over three times in a month. When asked how he had managed to keep his licence with so many points, he laughed and said: "Because I'm a very good person." The court heard Ashmore, of Witham St Hughes, Lincolnshire, was caught illegally driving on May 30, June 23 and July 23 this year. He admitted three counts of driving while disqualified, three counts of driving without insurance and one offence of using a mobile phone while driving. Last month, Lincoln Magistrates' Court handed him an eight-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was also banned from driving for a further 12 months, meaning he cannot drive until at least July 2027, and was ordered to pay court costs and a surcharge. PC Mark Solder, of Lincolnshire Police, said Ashmore "is a risk on the roads and a menace to other lawful drivers", adding that driving is a privilege that comes with responsibilities most motorists understand they must meet.
