Sorry, Truly, and good luck with what you’re doing. I genuinely hope you make millions. But I do think you contradict yourself quite a lot, and unfortunately that doesn’t help the community because people take what you say as the truth. You just told this man that you had a very strict upbringing with your father, that you had to leave the room when men visited and always needed a chaperone. Yet you were also allowed to travel to another country to appear on a television programme when you were only 13. Those two things don’t seem to fit together. You don’t seem to like it when members of the Gypsy community defend themselves, but we’re expected to accept how we’re portrayed on TV. You often say you’re not representing the whole Gypsy community, but then you’ll say, “This is what the Gypsy community believes,” rather than saying, “This is what my family believed.” That’s the issue many of us have. People watching don’t always separate your family’s experiences from the wider community, and that can create stereotypes that the rest of us have to live with. It works both ways. and you’re not challenged apart from the community on anything you say which makes the discrimination worse .
