Matt’s two drink rule was definitely created because of the c1 kraken fight

I feel like if you’re having more than 2 or 3 drinks in a single session, you’re not there for the game…

I’ll admit. I once had a few too many during a D&D(& Drafts) event and it wasn’t a good time. Even I was like “I’m a little useless rn.” Luckily it was mostly just check/save based and I didn’t ruin anything, but i had to stop myself before I did.

Oh. THOSE kinds of drinks. I was like “so I can’t have a juice, a water bottle, and a monster/soda?” I just like to be prepared on what I wanna drink.

As a DM, I don't allow myself even a drop of alcohol behind the screen

interestingly, I think the fact that all of my games are technically on work nights has inherently produced a three drink minimum, at least for me. cuz my ass got to drive home and work tomorrow. 😎

2 drink limit is too little especially if you are playing for hours. I completely understand don’t get smashed but not everyone has the same alcohol tolerance. A 90 pound woman can drink 2 drinks and be kinda drunk but a 250 dude has 2 drinks and it’s nothing.

the "be on time" rule is not a hot take. we usually play from 10:00-17:00 and have had sessions start at 11:50, after 20 minutes the host where I was DM'ing broke immersion to make food and we continued after 13:00. so much time wasted to where i messed with the battle at the end just to end it

As a DM, not even hot takes, they’re just both valid.

I agree with 2-3 drink limit….UNLESS…the table agrees and that whole session will take place in a seedy tavern where most issues will get swept under the table with some gold or a favor

The only caveat I'd say is that some people can have more drinks and still function/behave/pay attention, but I get his rule is 2 drinks so that the people with the issues can't self-assess that they're the ones who can handle more and then ruin it for everyone.

I've done drunk DND. It CAN be fun. If you have one person or drinking it's probably not fun for them, and if you get too drunk it can be a derailment. I agree with this take, however I do think DND is best sober.

Honestly not even just a D&D thing, even doing s collab, the schedule thing is real, like when you plan something with another creator, the day comes and no word

starting late is my pet peeve, like it's one thing if it's an unforeseen circumstance or emergency, but WE PLAY AT THE SAME TIME EVERY WEEK YOUR TIME IS NOT MORE VALUABLE THAN MINE PLEASE IT'S AN AGREEMENT - signed, a disgruntled forever DM

Our group gives you two chances to be late, as she said it takes so much time and effort and planning from everyone to not be on time. After those two times, you gotta go lol

I don’t get why people complain about scheduling. My mega-group (comprised of roughly 2 dozen games at any given time) does *1* scheduling discussion for each game. We pick a bi-weekly day and a regular start time and we all put it on the calendar. Yes, occasionally a game gets canceled (particularly around the holidays) but in general we meet every two weeks, probably… +20 times a year per game. I’m in 3 games currently.

I honestly believe alcohol should not be involved. if you require it to have fun then you need help. not more reasons to drink
