Idk man maybe I’m an outlier, after my second ex wife and now having a child I absolutely avoid any type of romantic or sexual relationships. Only thing I pursue is being a good dad, and making enough money to BE a good dad.

Man this topic has a lot of interesting nuance. I do think that when you make statements about someone else’s internal world, they can be self affirming. That doesn’t mean they aren’t broadly true, but the actual work of sorting intentions and inner thoughts is really hard and takes a huge amount of discernment. They'll take an overdose of testosterone and lil' blue pills that are risky in order to make them harder than ancient Sumerian algebra...but won't even consider therapy unless it's made undeniably apparent that they weren't the centralized prize in their last relationship. I'm not condoning cheating on either part; at all. It's just interesting that it takes something like that to jostle their brain. The ONLY other scenario that I have encountered where a man says -he has not been interested in dating- & -he's taking time to work on himself- to heal has been if their wife/ fiance/girlfriend suddenly fucking died. Which of course, that's understandable.
