Great players have an innate natural ability that can’t be coached

This is a theory in Football "soccer". But they have players who break through to management well. Zidan, Xabi Alonso. They thought process is that they want all the players in the team to perform like they would be able to do. But most players can't. Most top players are selfish and talented. It's very hard to train talent.

A story about Magic Johnson neatly captures the issue. At a kids camp he blew the whistle, shook his head at them, and said 'you missed the wide open pass. Tell em coach'. His assistant looked baffled; 'what pass?' That was the problem. When you rely so much on natural talent, you don't understand how to teach it to others, or to see the game the way lesser players do. Same reason great hitters make bad hitting coaches. They just want you to play like them, and when you're an outlier that doesn't work.

No it's because the talent they have , makes them do everything easily . Therefore , they don't understand the cohesion you need . Humility is a wonderful quality but most ex star players don't have that quality

What a lot of people don't understand is coaching has a lot to do with managing other people, and also having the skills to communicate ideas and disseminate information. Great players are often naturally talented and haven't had to think about why?

I think jimmy might be onto something regarding the longer format club premiership games but in the short format rep games like soo blokes like Meninga and slater Fittler have shone

My opinion is that a lot of the great players in many sports everything come so natural to them and don’t even think about it. I find many not all the great coaches where great players but where not so naturally gifted and had to read the game and work on stuff they fell short on. Ment when they are coaches they view it from a developmental and strategic perspective opposed to some can’t understand why there player can’t just see and do what was so natural to them.

Patience and communication, talented players struggle to communicate and have patience with less talented players

Counter point on benji. Historically one of the worst defenders we’ve seen. Therefore it evens it up
